NSU Title IV-E Hosting Champions of Child Welfare Symposium Friday, Oct. 3

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University Title IV-E Child Welfare Scholar Program will host “Champions of Child Welfare:  A Homecoming,” dedicated on learning, building connections and honoring the vital work of child welfare professionals. The symposium will take place from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 in the Lucile Hendrick Room on the first floor of the NSU Student Union. The symposium is open to the public and professionals in the area.

Organizers will hold a followup tailgate Saturday, Oct. 4 as part of NSU Homecoming festivities.

Symposium participants will earn four CEU Credits, including one In-Person Clinical and 1 Ethics CEU, practical tools for self-care and burnout prevention, insights from Louisiana’s Top foster care leaders and a judge’s take on how to better communicate cases in court.

There is no registration fee, but donations to Fostering Community, a nonprofit supporting foster children and families, are encouraged. Suggested donation items can be found here: https://nsu.la/fosteringcommunity.  Donation boxes will be available on-site.

Participants are invited to join a free tailgate party at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at the tailgate field.  Discounted tickets to NSU’s 6 p.m. football game will be available.
