NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University Instructor of Music Sofiko Tchetchelashvili will present a Faculty Recital on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. A livestream will be available at http://www.nsu.la/CAPA-LIVE.
Tchetchelashvili will be assisted by NSU Associate Professor of Piano Dr. John Price.
The program will be “Suite No.1 in G, BWV 1007” by J.S. Bach, “Capriccio for solo viola, op. 55 no. 9” by H. Vieuxtemps and “Sonata for Viola and Piano No.1, Op. 18” by Y. Bowen.
A native of Tbilisi, Georgia, Tchetchelashvili has distinguished herself as a performer and educator. She studied at the Tbilisi State Conservatory and later completed graduate studies at Baylor University, where she served as concertmaster of the Baylor Symphony Orchestra. A winner of four National Competitions in Georgia and two-time recipient of the President’s Award for Excellence in Music, she has taught viola at Northwestern State since 2016. She is regularly invited to music festivals across Europe and the United States, including in Spain, Italy, and Montenegro, where she teaches and performs as a soloist and chamber musician.
