NATCHITOCHES — The NSU Percussion Ensemble will present their fall concert on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. A livestream will be available at www.nsu.la/CAPA-LIVE.
The program will consist of chamber pieces that showcase a variety of musical styles, instruments and composers. The featured works include composers John Cage, Andy Akiho, Ivan Treviño, Jessica Flannigan and Tyler Tolles. Director of the Dear School of Creative and Performing Arts Scott Burrell will narrate a children’s story to the Treviño’s percussion quartet “Space Junk.” Music education students in the Percussion Class I course will showcase what they have learned and put it into practice on stage. Percussion Class I is under the instruction of Dr. Andrew Blair.
The concert will conclude with an arrangement by junior music education major Caedmon Larson of Todd Baker’s “Endless Desert.” The NSU Percussion Ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Oliver Molina with assistance from graduate students Walker Libbe and Sam Wyant.
