- Dr. Anthony Pursell, Conductor
The Northwestern State Wind Symphony is made up of 50 of the finest wind and percussion performers at the university. Literature selected is from the field of music from the 19th century to the present day, representing composers from diverse backgrounds. The group tours regionally and has enjoyed performances abroad. Membership is based on auditions in August (for the Fall Semester) and November (for the Spring Semester). When selected for special performances, the ensemble may only audition in August for the entire academic year.
Literature selected for the ensemble varies to satisfy our audiences, music performance majors, music education majors planning to teach in the public schools, and those students majoring in fields outside of music who enjoy a challenging and meaningful experience.
