Committed to excellence, the NSU Testing Center follows the National College Testing Association (NCTA) standards to ensure a high-quality, reliable experience. From college entrance exams to professional certifications, we provide the tools and support you need to move forward with confidence.

Policies, Procedures, & Guidelines

Testing Center Policies & Procedures
  1. Personal Items
    Personal belongings are not allowed in the testing room. Lockers are available for storage. Prohibited items include, but are not limited to:

    • Cell phones, smartwatches, Fitbits

    • Cameras or recording devices

    • Earbuds, headphones, or other listening devices

    • Rulers, highlighters

    • Food or drinks

    • Hats or hoods (must be removed)

    • Purses, backpacks

    • Calculators, notes, books, or paper*
      *These items are only allowed with written instructor permission. Scratch paper will be provided.

  2. Breaks
    Leaving the room during your exam is not permitted unless an approved break is allowed.

  3. ID Required
    A valid photo ID is required to take your test.

  4. Required Materials
    You are responsible for bringing any materials specified by your instructor (e.g., Scantron, formula sheets).

  5. Monitoring
    All test-takers are monitored. Suspected cheating will be reported to the instructor and investigated.

  6. Quiet Environment
    Please be respectful—enter and exit the Testing Center quietly to avoid disturbing others.

  7. Report Issues
    Notify staff immediately if you experience any problems during your test.

Proctoring Services

NSU offers proctoring services for students taking exams for courses taught by professors located off the Natchitoches campus. Faculty and staff may also reserve the lab for proctoring purposes.

  • Available Monday – Friday by appointment

Testing Services

ACCUPLACER

ACCUPLACER is a computer-adaptive test used to assess college readiness in reading, writing, and math. It provides immediate results and helps ensure accurate course placement.

  • Cost: $25 for both Math & English, or $15 for each section

  • Payment: Exact cash, check, money order, or credit card

  • What to bring: Valid photo ID and NSU CWID or SSN

SAT

The SAT is a nationally recognized standardized exam used for college admissions. It is administered on select Saturdays throughout the year.

CLEP (College-Level Examination Program)

Earn college credit for what you already know by passing CLEP exams in over 30 subjects. Exams are by appointment only.

  • $30 Administrative/Proctoring Fee (paid onsite)

  • What to bring: Valid photo ID and CLEP registration form

Praxis

Required for teacher certification in many states, Praxis exams measure academic skills and subject-specific knowledge.
