Demons for Recovery was created to support students who identify as being in recovery. The Department of Psychology and Addiction Studies staff are trained in substance use disorders and recovery, and have developed a Collegiate Recovery and Prevention Program (CRPP) to provide specialized support for students on their recovery and academic journeys. Unlike treatment programs, collegiate recovery programs focus on offering ongoing recovery support within the campus environment, creating a safe, inclusive community where students can thrive. Demons for Recovery will host sober tailgates, offer a dedicated student lounge for members, provide weekly recovery meetings, scholarships, and peer support opportunities to help students grow, connect, and succeed.
Two Northwestern State University organizations, Demons for Recovery and United Against Fentanyl, invite community members, families and advocates to come together for the “Walk for Lives” event on Saturday, July 11, in Natchitoches. This event aims to raise awareness about the devastating impact of fentanyl and honor the lives affected by opioid-related tragedies. The walk will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Seven Oaks Stage on the NSU campus.
