NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State University Jazz Orchestra will perform on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Seating is limited and masks are required in keeping with School of Creative and Performing Arts guidelines. The concert will be livestreamed at capa.nsula.edu/livestream.

Associate Professor of Trumpet Galindo Rodriguez will conduct the Jazz Orchestra. John David Floyd is the graduate assistant conductor.

The Jazz Orchestra will perform “The Heat’s On” by Sammy Nestico featuring Daniel Scott on tenor saxophone, “It’s Oh, So Nice” by Nestico featuring Mario Gomez Orellana on piano, Evan Bryant on trombone and Covie Latham, on drumset, “Invitation” by Bronislau Kaper and arranged by Eric Richards featuring Orellana, Miguel Bustillo on vibes and Elias Castro Caballero on drumset.

The program also includes “A Time For Love” by Johnny Mandel & P. F. Webster and arranged by Hank Levy, “Chico and The Man” by Jose Feliciano and arranged by Victor Lopez featuring Rodriguez on flugelhorn, Bustillo and Orellana and “Chow Mein” by Tito Puento and arranged by Victor Rendon featuring the saxophone, trumpet and Latin percussion sections.
