April Lunch and Learn will explore Pre-K expulsions

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Department of Social Work will present the April Lunch and Learn titled “Bias at Play:  Exploring the Phenomenon of Pre-K Expulsions.”

Preschool expulsions, often driven by behavioral concerns, disproportionately impact Black children, especially boys. This training will focus on understanding this issue and promoting equitable, supportive learning environments for all children.  Dr. MaryAnne Candley, MSW, LMSW, head of NSU’s Department of Social Work, will be the presenter.

The session will begin at noon Friday, April 24 in the Listach Conference Room at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and is open to the community, helping professionals and students. The presentation qualifies as one hour of continuing education and will be delivered virtually via Webex. Registration is available by accessing the QR code below.
