Faculty member Alexis Sczepanik to present horn recital Oct. 2

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University Assistant Professor of Horn Dr. Alexis Sczepanik will present a recital on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. A livestream will be available at http://www.nsu.la/CAPA-LIVE.

She will be assisted by Associate Professor of Piano Dr. John Price and Professor of Violin Dr. Andrej Kurti.

The program will be “Two Latin Dances” by Lauren Bernofsky, “Horn Vibes” by Shanyse Strickland and “Horn Trio, Op. 40” Johannes Brahms.

Sczepanik serves as the International Horn Society (IHS) area representative for Louisiana. She has worked in higher education for the past 10 years, teaching at Ouachita Baptist University, Midwestern State University and Weatherford College before joining Northwestern State’s faculty.

Sczepanik maintains an active performing schedule with the NSU Faculty Woodwind Quintet, as fourth horn with the Rapides and Marshall symphonies and with other orchestras in the region including the Shreveport Symphony, Texarkana Symphony and South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. She earned a D.M.A. from the University of North Texas, a M.M. from The University of Texas at San Antonio and a B.M. from Texas State University.
