Gregory will speak to NGHA on ‘Los Adaesaños’ Sept. 22

NATCHITOCHES – Dr. Hiram “Pete” Gregory will be featured speaker at a meeting of the Natchitoches Genealogical and Historical Association at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22 at the Old Courthouse Museum, 600 Second St.

The presentation will acknowledge September as Hispanic Heritage Month.  Gregory’s talk will be “Los Adaesaños: People on the Border, Cowboys and Indians (1723-today).”

Gregory is a professor of anthropology at Northwestern State University and an esteemed expert on history, anthropology and archaeology, particularly as it relates to Native Americans.  He has served on NSU faculty for 65 years and has been honored by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and Louisiana Office of Cultural Development.
