NATCHITOCHES – Guitarist Luke Brouillette will host a concert titled NSU Guitarfest 2026 on Thursday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. A livestream of the concert will be available at www.nsu.la/CAPA-LIVE.
Brouillette has been a member of Northwestern State University’s music faculty since 1994. As a resident of Natchitoches and guitar instructor for NSU, he has worked as a professional performer playing popular and jazz music as a leader and as a sideman, as well as performing in concerts and recitals with NSU’s jazz ensembles, symphony orchestra and theatre department.
The program will open with Brouillette performing two solo guitar pieces by J.S. Bach followed by two Bach inventions performed by NSU guitar student Gabriel Polo accompanied by Brouillette.
The NSU Guitar Trio featuring guitar students Layton Zeringue, Gabriel Polo and Zachary Miller accompanied by a rhythm section of jazz performers Sammy Nix and Dion Pierre will play the jazz standards “So What” and “All Blues” by Miles Davis.
The remainder of the program will feature selections from Brouillette’s repertoire with the Luke Brouillette Jazz Quartet. The quartet consists of Brouillette and Patrick Bordelon on guitars along with Pierre on bass and Nix on drums.
