NATCHITOCHES – Registration is open for music lessons through the Northwestern State University Music Academy for the Spring 2026 semester. The NSU Music Academy provides private lessons in piano, guitar, percussion, violin and voice for students ages six and up on the Northwestern campus. Directed by NSU music faculty Dr. Francis Yang and Dr. John Price, the academy features dedicated instructors who are Northwestern graduate and undergraduate music students.
This spring, students will have a chance to showcase their progress in an end-of-semester recital held in Magale Recital Hall. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the NSU Music Festival, perform for adjudicators and earn spots in an honors recital. In previous years, academy students have also taken part in the National Federation of Music Clubs Festival, the Central Music Teachers’ Association Sonatina Festival and the Louisiana Music Teachers Association Upper Elementary Auditions.
Spring semester lessons start the week of Jan. 19.
