NATCHITOCHES – The NSU Music Academy will hold its fall ensemble concert on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

The concert theme is “Princes, Princesses, & Pirates!” In keeping with the theme, students will dress up for their performances.

“We hope this event will provide an opportunity for students to connect with friends and develop skills beyond solo performances, such as reading a conductor’s patterns and actively listening to one another,” said Associate Professor of Music-Collaborative Piano Chialing Hsieh, who is hosting the concert.

The NSU Music Academy provides private lessons in piano, guitar, percussion, violin and voice for students ages six and up on the campus of Northwestern State. Directed by NSU faculty Dr. Francis Yang and Dr. John Price, the academy features dedicated instructors who also include current graduate and undergraduate music students at Northwestern.

Academy students have taken part in the annual MSU Music Festival, the National Federation of Music Clubs Festival, the Central Music Teachers’ Association Sonatina Festival and the Louisiana Music Teachers Association Upper Elementary Auditions.
