NATCHITOCHES – E’Marion Powell, a senior accounting major at Northwestern State University, has been selected to receive a Round Robin Scholarship from the Society of Louisiana CPA’s Central Chapter.
Powell, who is from Ferriday, was chosen after taking part in a Round Robin Speed Interview Event in Alexandria. Central Louisiana businesses were able to conduct one-on-one interviews with select students, allowing them to quickly assess potential candidates for open or future positions.
“This scholarship will help me complete my bachelor’s degree in accounting, which is required to meet the credit hours needed to sit for the CPA exam,” said Powell. “It will ease my financial burden and allow me to focus fully on achieving my goal of becoming a licensed CPA.”
Powell thanked the Society of Louisiana CPA’s Central Chapter for the interview opportunity and the scholarship.
“It’s beneficial for accountants to give back by helping and guiding those who want to enter the field, especially since accounting can be intimidating to newcomers,” said Powell.
