NATCHITOCHES – Three Northwestern State University students were successful in scholarship competitions held this past weekend.
Lauren Vernon of Arcadia, Miss Heart of Pilot, was second runner up at the Miss Louisiana Contest in Monroe and Nilah Pollard, the current Miss Northwestern Lady of the Bracelet, was in the top 11. Jesse Foshee of Provencal, Miss Volunteer Louisiana, was in the top 16 at the Miss Volunteer America Pageant in Jackson, Tennessee.
Vernon won the Newcomer Talent Award, the Newcomer Health and Fitness Award and the Newcomer Eveningwear Award.
Vernon is a senior biology pre-med major with a minor in dance. She is a President’s List student and a member of the Purple Jackets Honor Society and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.
Pollard was Speaker of the Senate for the Student Government Association and secretary of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). Pollard is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and is the 2025 Miss NSU.
Foshee was the 2024 Miss Northwestern Lady of the Bracelet. She is a senior communications major with a concentration in broadcasting journalism and digital media production. She is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and the Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society.
