NATCHITOCHES – Teal ribbons around the Northwestern State University campus are out for the month of September, National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.  Natchitoches and NSU have participated in Turn Teal for Ovarian Cancer Awareness for several years, to encourage women and those who love them to learn about ovarian cancer, the importance of knowing one’s family medical history and the effectiveness of early detection. Turn Teal also encourages support for survivors, caregivers and their families. Leah Lentz of Natchitoches annually spearheads Turn Teal Natchitoches in memory of her mother, Sue Gregory Coleman, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2012.  Information on Turn the Towns Teal is available at https://www.turnthetownsteal.org and https://ovarian.org/get-involved/together-in-teal/.
