NATCHITOCHES – The Louisiana Title IV-E Child Welfare Program at Northwestern State University invites the community to the grand opening of the Child Welfare Simulation Lab (CWSL) at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4. The lab is located on the third floor of Kyser Hall in Suite 318.

The CWSL is an innovative training environment designed to prepare future professionals through immersive, real-world learning experiences that strengthen workforce readiness, interdisciplinary collaboration, and service delivery for children and families across Louisiana. The simulation lab includes a realistic home environment that allows students and professionals to develop practical skills before entering the field.

As the first Child Welfare Simulation Lab in northern Louisiana, this initiative represents a significant investment in experiential learning, workforce development, and community engagement. Attendees for the grand opening will have an opportunity to tour the Child Welfare Simulation Lab, meet the Louisiana Title IV-E statewide team and learn how simulation-based training prepares professionals to work effectively with children and families.  Guests can also explore opportunities for collaboration between education and child- and family-serving systems and receive info for booking the CWSL.

Administrators say this event will showcase NSU’s leadership in experiential learning and its commitment to addressing workforce needs through innovation, partnership and service to Louisiana communities.
