Career Connections provides career exploration for teens

 

NATCHITOCHES — Northwestern State University’s Office of Career Services will host Career Connections summer camp on Wednesday, July 8, an opportunity for students ages 13-15 to explore exciting hands-on education experiences offered at NSU.

“This innovative summer program connects students with hands-on learning experiences across various academic disciplines and career paths, fostering early career exploration and academic engagement,” said Tiffany Killion, director of Career Services.

Career Connections will expose students to diverse career paths and college opportunities.  Students will be able to visit with NSU faculty to talk about how to become an athletic trainer, engineer, DJ, doctor/nurse, computer programmer, banker/accountant, light/sound tech, mental health specialist, teacher and more.

The camp is tailored for students in 7-9th grades and will run for one day with 50-minute courses.  Six sections will be offered in the morning curriculum and three afternoon session of the students’ choice. Lunch and snacks will be provided.  Sessions will take place in the Student Union with check-in from 7:30-8:45 a.m.  Camp activities will run through 4:30 p.m. with checkout from 4:30-5 p.m.
