NATCHITOCHES – Seven teams from five area middle schools and high schools competed in the annual Demon Mathematics Classic, a quiz bowl-style competition hosted by Northwestern State University’s Department of Mathematics on March 20. Students competed both as teams and individuals. Winners received a trophy, a TI-Nspire CX CAS graphing calculator and a scholarship to NSU. Sabine State Bank, Pearson and the NSU Alumni Association sponsored the event.

Emil Galliano from the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts was first place winner in the Individual Competition. He was congratulated by Zeb Marcotte, head of NSU’s Mathematics Department.
