Cardwell said “Cosi fan tutte” is one of Mozart’s most popular operas and his third collaboration with librettist Lorenzo da Ponte. This dramma giocoso, or joyful drama, follows six main characters as they engage in a full day’s worth of comedic moments.

In the opera, Don Alfonso insists that all women are fickle. Ferrando and Guglielmo insist that their fiancées are the most virtuous and faithful women who would never betray them. Alfonso makes a bet with them that he can trick the women into cheating on their lovers in only a day. The men agree and with the help of the ladies’ chambermaid, Despina, hilarity ensues.
