Eugene P. Watson Memorial Library

Located on our main campus in Natchitoches, Watson Memorial Library is your one-stop destination for research, studying, and student support. This three-story facility offers group and individual study spaces, expert research help, a computer lab, tutoring in the Academic Success Center, and even a coffee break spot at Café DeMon.

Step into Louisiana’s story. The Cammie G. Henry Research Center houses rare books, historic manuscripts, NSU archives, newspapers, maps, and more—preserving our region’s rich cultural and literary heritage from the 1700s to today.

Explore treasures from iconic Louisiana figures and collections like Melrose, Aswell, Dormon, and the Federal Writers’ Project.

NSU’s Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service gives students, faculty, and staff access to books, articles, and more from libraries across the country—free of charge. Whether you’re researching, teaching, or just curious, ILL connects you to what you need.

Delivery in 3–5 business days
Pick up at Watson Library or receive articles by email

How it works:

  1. Check the NSU catalog or Full Text Finder first

  2. Request through the ILLiad system

  3. Get notified when it arrives

  4. Return to the ILL Office or 3rd floor desk

Shreveport Library

We offer:

  • Quality medical literature databases available 24 / 7
  • Research consultations to Nursing and Allied Health students and faculty
  • Webex online workshops and in-person training on database searching & post-processing
  • Training on web applications such as Rayyan.AI, SciTe AI, Perrla, CoPilot AI, Mendeley Desktop and Mendeley Citation Manager
  • Support for your Project in Lieu of Thesis (PILT), DNP Special Project, or MAH Special Project
  • Study rooms for individuals or small student groups are available on a first-come basis
  • Two media rooms have laptop connections and a large flat projection screen
  • The Learning Resource Center may be reserved by faculty for testing

Government Documents

 

Watson Library is a selective federal and state depository, offering public access to historical and current government publications in print and digital formats. Most are free to view and scan in-library; NSU affiliates and Friends may check out materials. State documents are located in the Cammie G. Henry Research Center.

Explore NSU’s rich history through digital publications including catalogs, yearbooks, newspapers, literary magazines, alumni news, and historical books. Highlights include Steel Magnolias Scrapbook, NSU’s centennial history, and access to statewide archives via the Louisiana Digital Library. All materials are freely available online through the Internet Archive.

Academic Advising Services

Academic Advising at NSU is regarded as an extension of the teaching function and is an important responsibility of our faculty.  Our professional team of advisors works closely with departmental faculty advisors and academic departments to help NSU students achieve their academic and professional goals.

 

Academic Advising Services is responsible for the following advising services and programs:

  • Exploratory (undecided) students
  • Visiting non-degree-seeking students
  • Associate of General Studies (AGS)
  • Bachelor of General Studies (BGS)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) – Natchitoches campus, pre-clinical students
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Natchitoches campus, pre-clinical students
  • University Studies 1000 – The University Experience. This required support course is delivered to approximately 1,400 entering freshmen each academic year (traditional and online delivery).

Computer Labs

The NSU Student Technology Lab is designed to support your academic success with easy access to the digital tools you need. Located on the first floor of Watson Library, the lab features computer stations, printing services, scanning tools, and helpful staff ready to assist.

Whether you’re writing a paper, prepping a presentation, or printing assignments, the Student Tech Lab keeps you connected and productive. Open to all current NSU students — just bring your Speed Demon ID and get to work.

Testing Center
