NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State University Jazz Orchestra will perform on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open the public. NSU Associate Professor of Trumpet Galindo Rodriguez will conduct the orchestra.

The Jazz Orchestra will play “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If it Ain’t Got That Swing) by Duke Ellington with words by Irving Mills and arranged by Ralph Ford featuring Romulo Ossorio Herrera on piano and Andrew Boyd on vibraphone, “On Green Dolphin Street” by Ned Washington and Bronislau Kaper and arranged by Michael Abene featuring Daniel Scott on tenor saxophone, Ivan Lorduy-Camargo on trumpet and Jacob St. Pierre on trombone and “Arnge Drank” by Paul Baker featuring Jessica Dubose on trombone, Scott, Valeria Perez Espinosa on guitar, Herrera and Jordan Davis on baritone saxophone.

The concert will also include “Just a Pretty Little Thing” by Tom Kubis featuring Rodriguez on flugelhorn and Scott, “Ginger Bread Boy” by Jimmy Heath and arranged by Mike Tomaro featuring Jose Colon Marrugo on bass, Espinosa, Scott, Sadoc Silva Calderon on trumpet and Boyd. “We’ll Be Together Again” by Carl T. Fischer and Frankie Lane and arranged by Mike Barone and featuring Scott, “Straight No Chaser” by Thelonious Monk, “Sugar” by Stanley Turrentine and “Funky Cha-cha” by Arturo Sandoval and arranged by Richard Eddy and Sandoval and featuring Carmago.
