Department of Journalism:
The
Department of Journalism at Northwestern State University provides a
program of study that affords students from diverse academic and
cultural backgrounds the opportunity to prepare for a professional
journalism degree. Students develop the skills and knowledge needed for
professional employment or advanced studies. Further, the program of
study, built on a broad liberal arts tradition, incorporates the
values, ethics and attitudes associated with professional standards of
mass media.
Students choose one of three concentrations:
broadcast, news-editorial or public relations. These concentrations
allow students to tailor their education for individual desired career
goals. The Department provides modern production equipment and a fully
equipped computer lab to support all three concentration areas.
