Congratulations

Mr. Steven Gruesbeck, Gallaspy College of Education and Human Development, received notification of a $3,033,124.38 four-year award from The Rapides Foundation for “Mental Healthcare Workforce Development in CENLA.” Dr. Neeru Deep is a collaborator.

Ms. Nancy Alexander, Department of Child and Family Network, Gallaspy College of Education and Human Development, received notification of a $944,344 award from the Louisiana Department of Education for “Child Care Resource and Referral – Amendment 3.” Ms. Kimberly Duncan is a collaborator.

Ms. Frances Welch, TRIO Student Support Services, Student Affairs, received notification of a $500,379 award from the U.S. Department of Education entitled, “FY25 Application for Grants under the Student Support Services Program.” Ms. Vashuan Southis a collaborator.

Dr. Shane Rasmussen, LA Folklife Center, College of Arts and Sciences, received notification of a $12,000 award from the National Endowment for the Arts entitled, “The 45th Annual Natchitoches – NSU Folk Festival.”

Dr. Dominique Taylor, Department of New Media, Journalism, and Communication Arts, College of Arts and Sciences, received notification of a $10,221 award for Year 2 funding from the Henry Luce Foundation through Louisiana State University entitled, “Louisiana Community Journalism Initiative.”

 Current Activities

Ms. Jennifer DePriest, Region 6 LASTEM Center, Economic Development, Innovation, and Outreach, submitted a proposal to the Louisiana Board of Regents entitled, “Regional LA STEM Center.”  Ms. Laurie Morrow is a collaborator.

Mr. Jon Caliste, NSU Police Department, submitted a proposal to the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Violence Against Women entitled, “Strengthening DVSAS Services at NSU.” Ms. Reatha Cox, Mr. Wesley Harrell, and Ms. Lindsey Vascocu are collaborators.

Dr. Shane Rasmussen, LA Folklife Center, College of Arts and Sciences, submitted a proposal to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation entitled, “The 46th Annual Natchitoches – NSU Folk Festival.”

Dr. Damien Tristant, Department of Physical Science, College of Arts and Sciences, submitted a proposal to the National Science Foundation’s Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (I-USE): Directorate for STEM Education entitled, “Scalable Methods for AI–Driven Retention and Teaching (SMART).  Drs. Nabin Sapkota, Duminda Samarakoon, Robert Page, Christopher Lyles, Francene Lemoine, and Mr. Zebulun Marcotte are collaborators.

Mr. James D. Cox, Advanced Remote and Geospatial Operations, College of Arts and Sciences, submitted a continuation application to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service entitled, “NSU Drone Remote Sensing.”

Dr. Shane Rasmussen, LA Folklife Center, College of Arts and Sciences, submitted a proposal to the National Endowment for the Arts entitled, “2026 Natchitoches – NSU Folk Festival.

Dr. Rachel Cezar-Martinez, Department of Veterinary Technology, School of STEM, College of Arts and Sciences, submitted an application to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry’s Equine Promotion and Research Program entitled, “Equine Health and Wellness Seminars.”

Dr. Myla Landry, Shreveport Nursing Education Center, College of Nursing and School of Allied Health, submitted an application to the Community Foundation of North Louisiana for funding through The Grayson Foundation entitled, “Code Bloom:  The Community at CONSAH.” Ms. Jodie Ford and Ms. Tiffany Chasteen are collaborators.
