A Proud History of Education

In 1969, NSU joined with two other state institutions, offering courses at the Education Center at Fort Polk. In 1974, the deed to the 160 acres of land, once part of the Post, was transferred to NSU to develop an Education Center. The first building was completed in 1975, and courses were held in the new facility. By 1987, all classes were taught at the current location.

Today, NSU-Leesville/Fort Polk is conveniently located midway between Leesville and Fort Polk on Highway 467, occupying 160 acres with 30,000 square feet of classroom and administrative space. Serving Vernon, Beauregard, and Sabine parishes, as well as the military community at Fort Polk, we are proud to offer a wide range of resources for students. Approximately 1,349 cars pass daily into Gate 2 of Fort Polk located off University Parkway.
