NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State’s ADVANCE Program for Young Scholars (ADVANCE), an annual program designed to academically engage gifted, honors and talented students, celebrated its 32nd year virtually.  Students from Louisiana and Texas enrolled in the challenging fast-paced academic program and completed their online courses during three weeks of July.  Staff members from previous programs volunteered to offer 21 virtual activities when students were not in class to help them form relationships and have fun.  “While we were pleased to engage students virtually, everyone sorely missed the face-to-face interactions of the ADVANCE community,” said Dr. Chris Hynes, director.  Survey results by parents and students indicated a high level of satisfaction and a desire to attend ADVANCE again.  Dates for the upcoming program are July 4–24, 2021.  For more information visit http://advance.nsula.edu or call (318) 357-4500.
