Northwestern State University is excited to announce a revitalized format for the 2025 On-Call Week, scheduled for August 11–15. This year’s format has been carefully redesigned to increase accessibility and participation for faculty and staff across all campuses—including Natchitoches, Alexandria, Leesville and Shreveport.

A committee of faculty and staff, selected by the Provost’s Office, has worked diligently to ensure the updated structure reflects both institutional goals and valuable feedback collected through previous surveys.

Key features of the updated On-Call Week format include:

  • Accessible to Everyone: Sessions will be held in person on the Natchitoches campus and live broadcast to satellite campuses in Alexandria, Leesville and Shreveport. All sessions will also be recorded and made available online for asynchronous access.
  • Reduced Commuting: Faculty and staff will only be required to meet in person once—on Thursday, August 14—for the annual Faculty/Staff Institute. This day will include the President’s Address, faculty and staff awards, introductions of new hires, a guest speaker, a luncheon and New Faculty Orientation.
  • Focused Professional Development: Nine professional development sessions have been carefully curated and are organized into three themed days:
  • Teaching, Learning, & Research Day– Monday, August 11
  • Advising Day– Tuesday, August 12
  • Technology & Tools Day– Wednesday, August 13
  • Interactive Moodle Integration: All sessions will be accessible through Moodle, where participants will engage in interactive activities using their fully charged laptops or smartphones. Access to the Moodle shell: https://moodle.nsula.edu/course/view.php?id=56335.
  • Scheduled Flexibility: The schedule provides dedicated time for school and department meetings, as well as individual course development.
  • Official Documentation Provided: Each participant who completes a session will receive a certificate of completion and a letter of participation. These documents serve as formal recognition of professional development at NSU and may be used for the Retention, Tenure and Promotion process, Annual Activity Reports or other professional documentation needs.
  • Breakfast & Luncheon Provided: Breakfast will be offered Monday through Thursday before each day’s sessions, and the traditional luncheon will take place on Thursday. The luncheon has been moved to Thursday this year to accommodate the renovation of Iberville. All meals will be provided by Sodexo.

This refreshed format is designed to foster greater engagement, reduce logistical challenges and provide faculty and staff with practical tools to support a successful academic year and enhance student success. All presenters are committed to sharing their expertise, reflecting the collaborative and service-oriented spirit of the NSU community. We hope you will join us and participate in this exciting new On-Call Week. For more information about On-Call Week, please contact Damien Tristant at tristantd@nsula.edu.
