NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Student Government Association passed a resolution during their first meeting of Fall 2020 expressing the appreciation of the Student Body to all faculty, staff and administration for the preparation that they have done for this semester.

In summary, the resolution states that whereas the COVID-19 pandemic greatly impacted the academic and student services of NSU in the spring semester and the university’s faculty, staff and administration strove to overcome challenges to deliver virtual classroom instruction and student support, the SGA offers its sincere appreciation to the university faculty, staff and administration for their dedication in ensuring a safe return to campus.

The SGA further encourages all students to adhere to policies and guidelines set forth by the university to promote the health and safety of the student body and the greater university community, to help contain the spread of COVID-19 and preserve the safety of the campus for face-to-face instruction and student activities.

“I also wanted to personally thank each of you for your efforts in ensuring that all of our students, the faculty, staff, and administration are as safe as possible during the Coronavirus pandemic,” said Nick Hopkins, SGA president. “To say that the work you all have done isn’t easy would be an extreme understatement. This has been one of the most challenging times that our university, state, nation, and world has ever faced, but throughout it all, you each have remained a beacon to guide our University community through this uncertainty.”

The resolution was passed by the SGA Senate on Aug. 17.
