NSU’s Department of Fine and Graphic Arts and the Department of English, Languages and Cultural Studies will present a Day of the Dead Altar for all students, faculty and staff. The altar will be on display Nov. 1-4 in Hanchey Gallery.

Day of the Dead is a fusion of Indigenous practices honoring the dead with the Catholic commemoration of All Saints and All Souls Day that originates in Mexico and has since the 70′ grown into a multicultural Pan-Latino celebration. Individuals are invited to bring a framed picture with or without a special memento memorializing a loved one and set it up on the altar, making it a spiritual and healing moment of remembrance.
