Carl D. Perkins Program

The President signed the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 into law on August 12, 2006. The Act provids an increased focus on the academic achievement of career and technical education students, strengthen the connections between secondary and post-secondary education, and improve state and local accountability.

Grant funds are used to provide supplementary services to designated associate degree programs. The academic instruction combined with the occupational skills training these students receive, helps prepare them for the transition to higher education and to enter the workforce with “job ready” skills in a technologically advanced society.
