The Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Educational Leadership and Instruction is a minimum of 30 hours beyond the master’s degree. Pending the applicant’s transcript evaluation, additional coursework may be required. The Educational Leadership concentration is designed to meet the academic and professional needs of both teachers and administrative school leaders. The Teach Louisiana web site has more information about state requirements.
The Ed.S. Educational Leadership program is designed for both those with an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and those with an M.Ed./M.A.T in a program other than Educational Leadership. Each student will work with his or her major professor to determine the appropriate program of study.
Both programs require a master’s degree, valid teaching certificate and regular or conditional admission to NSU’s Graduate School. If not already held, successful completion of either program and passing the School Leader Licensure Assessment (SLLA) OR Louisiana Leadership Assessment Series (LLAS) through BloomBoard qualify graduates for a Louisiana Level one Administration License.
