NATCHITOCHES – Aura Hernandez of Natchitoches, a graduate student at Northwestern State University, earned the Best Poster Award at the Conference for Industry Education Collaboration sponsored by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE-CIEC) in Orlando, Florida, last month.  Hernandez’s poster, “Evaluation of Paint Primers on Weathered Wood,” was judged on the originality of her research and quality of presentation.

Hernandez earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering technology at NSU last year and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in music performance.

She was accompanied to the conference by Adam Jannick, professor of engineering technology, and Department Head Dr. Jafar F. Al-Sharab, who moderated a session related to training and workforce development.  Al-Sharab received the best session award for presenting on “Innovation in ET Learning Environments.”  The trip was sponsored in part by the Womack and Clark Professorship that Jannick holds.

ASEE is the oldest, largest, most diverse and most prestigious engineering education society in America. The CIEC aids in making the ASEE the largest by including the most diverse area of engineering.
