NATCHITOCHES – Pianist John Price will present a recital on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. University COVID protocols will be in effect. Those attending are asked to wear a mask. A livestream of the concert will be available at capa.nsula.edu/livestream.
Price, an assistant professor of piano and piano pedagogy at Northwestern State, will perform Mozart’s “Piano Sonata K. 330 in C Major,” Scriabin’s “Etudes Op. 2 No.1 and Op. 42 No. 5 both in C# Minor” and the Schumann “Fantasie in C Major, Op. 17.”
Price has won prizes at the Utah State University Piano Festival, the Donna Turner Smith Piano Competition, the USU Concerto Competition and been an artist-in-residence at the Baltimore Piano Festival. As a collaborative pianist, he has worked with the Heifetz International Music Institute, University of Oklahoma Opera, the OU Summer String Academy and Tulsa Opera. Recent collaborative performances include an NSU faculty recital with cellist Paul Christopher and a guest artist recital with Christopher Adkins, principal cellist of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
As a clinician, Price has presented at the MTNA Collegiate Chapters Symposium, the Louisiana Music Teachers Association Conference and the MTNA/National Piano Foundation Remarkable Resources series. Upcoming engagements in 2022 include the Frances Clark Center’s Inspiring Artistry series and the National Group Piano and Piano Pedagogy Forum.
