NATCHITOCHES – Huntington High School visited the Department of Engineering Technology at NSU.  The event is organized as an observance of the National Manufacturing Month; October every year.  Participants toured different ET labs and experienced live demonstrations by ET faculty and students. In addition, students participated on hands-on experiences under the supervision of faculty and students.

“Students enjoyed the event and some were asking very penetrating questions,” said Department Head Dr. Jafar AlSharab.  “It is really great to see the enthusiasm of the students regarding the engineering discipline.”

The ET department has also conducted tours to CLECO and AFCO Industries staff on the same day.

The goal of Manufacturing Month is to inspire the future generation on the importance of the role manufacturers play in our daily lives and to create an awareness on the growing skill shortage in the manufacturing sector.  The ET department at NSU celebrates the Manufacturing Month ever year.
