NATCHITOCHES – Students in Professor Melody Gilbert’s promotional video class (COMM3480) at Northwestern State University are working with real clients this semester to make documentary-style videos to help businesses or non-profit organizations grow.

The first assignment was to make a 1-minute video for Natchitoches Picnic Company (NPC), a new business close to campus. The owner, Laurie Berry, came to class in Kyser Hall and met with the students to explain her strategic needs, and students produced different videos for her, either on their own or with a team.  Berry was thrilled with the results, which she uploaded the videos on the NPC YouTube page and is already using the videos in direct marketing and on social media.
