NATCHITOCHES – In celebration of October as National Manufacturing Month, Northwestern State University’s Department of Engineering Technology is organizing the 5th annual Engineering Technology Symposium from 8 a.m.-noon Thursday, October 20 in the Student Union Ballroom. Regional manufacturers will participate to offer information about their companies and relevant STEM career opportunities available.

Dr. Moftah Ali, assistant professor in the Department of Engineering Technology, will be featured speaker, along with local industry representatives, graduates of the program and NSU administrators.

Ali holds a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Western Ontario, Canada.  He proposed several novel low-complexity techniques in his doctoral thesis work that can be employed to design energy efficient multi-carrier and multi-carrier CDMA systems for applications in in LTE-4G5G networks and satellite communications.  Ali’s primary research areas include wired/wireless digital communication systems and digital signal processing.  During his Ph.D. studies, Ali published several peer-reviewed articles in journals and presented in many IEEE conferences and university symposiums.  He actively reviews manuscripts for IEEE conference proceedings and peer-reviewed articles.  He has eight years of industrial related experience and nine years of academic experience.
