Assessment & Measurement

In this workshop, which is part of the Master Course Creator series, we will discuss the importance of alignment between your objectives and your activities and assessments. We explain how to ensure alignment of assessments with course and module objectives. To earn the badge for the workshop, you will complete an assignment that shows your ability to create effective assessments that demonstrate the skills that you are teaching.

Word Styles

Monday, October 8th, 2 – 3 pm
Microsoft Word styles enable you to easily format your documents. Icons denote Title, Heading, and Body fonts, colors and sizes. Using Styles will produce a document that aligns with ADA, making it easy for all learners to absorb the information. Change the look of your documents or add a table of contents with just a few clicks.

PowerPoint Fundamentals

Tuesday, October 9th, 10 – 11 am
PowerPoint has been an ever-present element in education for presentations, and has grown into a valuable tool for more than just stagnant powerpoint slides. Learn how to design your presentations, add audio and animation, and more. This class will revolve around what the attendees want to see, so bring your questions and ideas!

Managing Your Gradebook:  Mid-Term Edition

We have reached the middle of the semester and you need your gradebook ready for your 10-week grades to be posted. Learn how to make sure your gradebook is calculating your 10-week grades correctly and be able to export a copy when your grades are finished.

WebEx Personal Room

Wednesday, October 10th, 10 – 11 am
Your WebEx Personal Room is a valuable tool for engaging with online students. In this workshop, we will cover how to open and run your personal room both as a one-on-one meeting option as well as an open office for online classes. We will also be highlighting some unique features of the room that are different from the standard training sessions.

In this workshop, we will demonstrate how to link and share videos and files stored in VIC, Microsoft Stream, and OneDrive to your Moodle Courses.  We will show you how to share content effectively and efficiently in your courses.

Excel Basics

This workshop is an introduction to Excel components. Learn about creating and navigating worksheets, entering text, dates and numbers, selecting cells, entering formulas, and much more.

In this workshop, we will demonstrate how to use various forms of communication (forums, announcements, and QuickMail) and when to use them. This will help you incorporate student interaction within your courses.

Stream

Stream is the new video library system through Office365. In this workshop, we will cover uploading, sharing, and closed captioning through Stream.

New! Flipgrid

Thursday, October 25th, 10 – 11 am

Are you looking for a new tool to help engage your learners in class?  Flipgrid is an online discussion forum application, free to educators, that allows students to record video responses to discussion prompts.  These video discussions can be embedded within your Moodle class and offer an alternative to written discussion posts.  Join us as we demonstrate how to set up Grids and share them in Moodle course shells.  For more information about FlipGrid and to view a sample Grid, refer to the July 2018 Tech Toolbox.

Alignment in the Online Course

Tuesday, October 30th, 2 – 3 pm

What does it mean for objectives, materials, activities, and assessments to be aligned within an online course? We will present a method for evaluating your course to ensure that all of the elements fit together. Attendees will be required to submit one alignment document analyzing one of their courses after participating in the workshop.

 

To register for courses via WebEx:

  1. Go to nsula.webex.com
  2. Click on the “WebEx Training” tab at the top of the page
  3. Click on the “Upcoming” tab beneath Live Sessions
  4. You will see a list of the sessions with the date and times, click on “Register” next to the one you would like to attend
  5. Complete the registration

You will receive an email confirmation after you have registered with the link you will use to join the session. To cancel your registration, click the link at the bottom of the registration email.
