NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Eugene P. Watson Memorial Library will host a reception for the exhibition “Wunderkammer:  A Celebration of Mary Linn Wernet.”  The event will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 25 in the Cammie G. Henry Research Center on the third floor of the library, Room 301. The community is invited. Punch, cookies and memories will be served, according to NSU Archivist Donna Baker.

Wunderkammer is loosely translated as “room of wonder.” The exhibit highlights a few of the achievements in the long and distinguished career of the late Mary Linn Wernet, former university archivist, who was known throughout the region as a scholar, researcher and historian.

Wernet, who was also an associate professor, joined the NSU staff in 1988. She was a member and officer in several historical and archival associations around the region.  She provided hundreds of presentations and presented many exhibitions highlighting the collections of the Cammie G. Henry Research Center. She passed away Jan. 31, 2022.

The exhibit opened in February. The last day to view the exhibit will be May 10. Hours for the Cammie G. Henry Research Center are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-noon Friday.
