NATCHITOCHES – The British Brass Band of Louisiana will present a concert at Northwestern State University on Sunday, June 9 at 4:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

The British Brass Band Association of Louisiana brings together many of the ArkLaTex’s finest musicians to perform exciting and challenging brass band repertoire. Band members come from across the region to participate in semi-annual concerts in Shreveport, Bossier City, Ruston, Marshall, Natchitoches, Lake Charles and Baton Rouge. The program features traditional brass band works as well as transcriptions of themes from popular movies.

The band is led by conductor John Caputo, a former euphonium soloist with USAF Reserve Band and USAF Band of the West.  He is music director of Austin Brass Band. Caputo is a 16-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force Bands Program where he built an international reputation as a performer and educator. As a chamber musician and clinician for the Air Force, he travelled to top university programs throughout the U.S. with the U.S. Reserve Brass Quintet. The group is featured on Firepower, which has been featured on NPR’s “Performance Today” more than 40 times over the last 10 years.
