NATCHITOCHES – The Dear School of Creative and Performing Arts and Department of Music at Northwestern State University will hold a Virtual Open House on Saturday, Jan. 16 from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Any prospective student considering majoring in music education, performance, sacred music or music business is invited to participate in the free event by registering at http://nsu.la/CAPAOpenHouse.
According to Interim Department Head of Music Terrie Sanders, the program begins at 9 a.m. when participants can schedule a 30-minute session or master class with a member of Northwestern State’s music faculty.
A band, orchestra and choir information will be held from 11:15 a.m.-11:45 a.m. and will feature ensemble directors leading a question and answer session about auditions and scholarships.
A crash course in taking the Theory Placement Test will take place from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dr. Adam Hudlow will lead the course.
Faculty advisors will be available from 12:45 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. to talk with prospective students about which major in the Department of Music would be right for them.
The Open House will conclude with a Music Student Showcase Concert at 1:30 p.m.
