NSU to close Monday for Labor Day

NATCHITOCHES – All campuses of Northwestern State University will be closed Monday, Sept. 2 for the Labor Day holiday.

The campus will reopen and classes will resume Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Lear, Jeter published in “Arkansas Archaeology”

Jeter conducted excavations at Lake Enterprise Mound, a small prehistoric American mound (c. 1200 BC) located in the southeast corner of Arkansas from 1991 through 1997. His excavations revealed a Poverty Point cultural component within the mound.

Classical instrument recital to be held Sept. 11

NATCHITOCHES – Keyboardist Dr. Charles Metz, flutists Leighton Daihl Ragusa and Dennette McDermott and classical bassoonist Douglas Bakenhus will present a program of music performed on classical instruments on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Columns Cafe will serve lunch Sept. 4

This month’s menu includes Parisian Burgers on Brioche Roll with Brie Cheese and Onion Compote with Dijon Mayo, Julienne cut Sweet Potato Frites and Trio of Fruit Granita for dessert. Tea and water included. The price is $15.

Master’s program in computer information systems approved

NATCHITOCHES – A Master’s of Science in Computer Information Systems at Northwestern State University has been approved by the State Board of Regents.

Rivers Murphy exhibition, reception Sept. 7

During his tenure at NSU, Murphy was a mentor to many artists who have contributed work to the Sept. 7 exhibition and plan to return to Natchitoches to honor their former professor.

“Music for Two Pianos” program to be performed Sept. 5

Kappa Pi supports 2020 “Hotter ‘N Hell” exhibition

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s chapter of Kappa Pi International Art Honor Society donated more than $1,000 to Friends of Hanchey to support promotion of “Hotter ‘N Hell,” a national juried collegiate art exhibition that will feature art created with the use of heat and fire.
