Ed.D. in Adult Learning and Development

Offered online, the Doctor of Education in Adult Learning and Development at Northwestern State University focuses on the needs of developing community college leaders and preparing practitioners to work with adult learners and workforce development. Graduates will be qualified to assume advanced leadership roles in areas of community college leadership, workforce development, post-secondary education, adult learning and development, and scholarship.

The Adult Learning and Development Program offers a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree for students who intend to pursue or advance their careers in the professional practice of adult learning and development or post-secondary leadership at the community college level. The Doctor of Education is a practitioner degree program that prepares students for the practice of adult learning and leadership across the following domains: teaching and learning, curriculum and instructional design, adult development, workforce development, program management and planning, organizational change, and community college leadership.

Two concentrations are available: Community College Leadership and Adult Learning and Workforce Development.
