The Chamber Choir is conducted by Director of Choral Activities Dr. Nicholaus B. Cummins. Associate Director of Choral Activities Adam Philley will direct Lyrica.

The Chamber Choir will preview the program they will present at the Southern Division American Choral Directors Assocation conference in Louisville in February. The program is music from around the world. The choir will sing “Canta!” from Cuba, “Trilo” from Sweden, “Kondarien Ihauterian” from Spain, “Nkosi Sikelal i Afrika” from South Africa and “My Old Kentucky Home” commissioned by NSU to sing at the conference in honor of the host city Louisville by composer Richard Burchard and “Leron Leron Sinta” from the Philippines.

Lyrica will be performing a varied set of music. Our first set is about hope. “Paper Crane” is inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki who was diagnosed with leukemia after the Hiroshima bombing. Sadako believed the legend that if you could fold one thousand paper cranes you could get a wish. That will be paired with “Hope Lingers On” by Andrea Ramsey. Our second set starts with a song about the life of Ida B. Wells and ends with the showstopping “What Happens When a Woman.”
