NATCHITOCHES – The NSU Jazz Orchestra will present a concert on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. Those attending are asked to follow university regulations and to wear a mask at all times in the building A livestream will be available at capansula.edu/livestream.

The Jazz Orchestra is directed by Galindo Rodriguez.

The program is “My Man Bill” by Rob McConnell with Mario Orellana on piano,  Juan Arrietta on trumpet and Daniel Scott on tenor saxophone, “Alison’s Tune” by Steve Sample featuring Scott, “Central Park North” by Thad Jones and arranged by Mike Carubia featuring Covie Latham on drumset, Scott and Arrieta and Scott on trumpet and “A Time For Love” by Paul Francis Webster and Johnny Mandel and arranged by Sammy Nestico with Jessica DuBose on trombone.

The Jazz Orchestra will also play “Tuxedo Junction” by Erskine Hawkins, William Johnson and Julian Dash and arranged by Walt Stuart featuring the trumpet section and Scott, “Moanin’” by Charlie Mingus and transcribed by Sy Johnson featuring Sebastian Oviedo-Osorio on baritone saxophone and Scott, “The Shadow of Your Smile” by Johnny Mandel and arranged by Dave Wolpe featuring Michael King on trombone and “Samba de Haps” by Mark Taylor, featuring Henry Pineda on conga, Arietta, Scott and Taylor Pettus on saxophone.
