NATCHITOCHES – Several local music students joined Northwestern State University piano students in a recent performance as part of the NSU Music Academy’s Virtual Music Concert 2020.

Assistant Professor of Piano and Academy Co-Director Dr. John Price said students recorded their parts individually, and their videos were synced together to create virtual, socially-distanced ensemble playing. David Paz, an NSU undergraduate piano major, compiled the video that featured approximately one dozen young pianists, three guitarists and a percussionist.

The video has now been posted on the NSU Music Academy YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQL9ueR8eb0

The concert served as a fundraiser for the Louisiana Music Teachers Association SOS Fund which is assisting LMTA members and their students impacted by Hurricanes Laura and Hurricane Delta. Donations can be made at lmta.org.

The NSU Music Academy serves the Natchitoches area and offers lessons in piano, guitar and percussion. For more information contact Price at pricejo@nsula.edu or Co-Director Dr. Francis Yang at yangf@nsula.edu.
