NATCHITOCHES – The NSU Percussion Ensemble will present its spring concert on Friday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. The concert will be livestreamed at capa.nsula.edu/livestream. The Percussion Ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Oliver Molina and Dr. Spencer Jones with graduate students Miguel Bustillo, Anthony Flores, Jack Overby, Klaire Thomas, and Steven Wimberley assisting. 

The program is “Perspective” by Jlin, VV by Juri Seo, “The Game” by Reijiro Koroku, “Enveloped” by Alexis C. Lamb and “MAG7” by Michael Burritt. 

After intermission, the Steel Band will play “Birthday Party” by Len “Boogsie” Sharpe and arranged by Irvine & Popernack, “September” by Earth, Wind, & Fire and arranged by Ziegler and “Float” by Machel Montano and arranged by Ziegler. 

The Percussion Ensemble and Steel PanDEMONium Band will perform as part of the Louisiana Day of Percussion hosted by Northwestern State on Saturday, April 22. Their concert will be at 4 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall and is open to the public. 

The Day of Percussion is sponsored by the Percussive Arts Society and will include clinics and performances by percussion ensembles from LSU, Louisiana Tech, the University of Louisiana at Monroe and Parkway, Ruston and Tioga high schools.
