NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present the musical “Goosebumps” March 6-10 in the A.A. Fredericks Auditorium. Performance time is 7:30 p.m. on March 6-9 with a 2 p.m. performance on March 10. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children and senior citizens. NSU, BPCC@NSU and Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts students are admitted free with a current student I.D.

Robert Richoux is the director. Dr. Sloan Artis is the musical director and Pia Wyatt is the choreographer.

On a fall day, the Woods Mills Middle School drama teacher Ms. Walker announces the Fall musical, and that this year’s production, “The Phantom of the Auditorium,” would be scary. Brooke, Zeke and friends hear rumors that a ghost roams the halls, and everyone is a little freaked out to be doing a scary play.

“The show is very fun and spooky and will be a treat for kids, adults will enjoy it as well,” said Richoux. “It is very representative of the Goosebumps Book series as well as the TV show. The show is not meant to be scary, but it is meant to be spooky.”

Richoux has directed Summer Dinner Theatre shows and will be directing his first main stage musical.

“It has been an amazing experience,” he said. “In the summer, my design team is usually a few people, but for this show we have a full design team, so it is my first show with a full design team with I am super excited about. I have spent the last year thinking about nothing but ‘Goosebumps the Musical.’ I listen non-stop to the soundtrack and have read the show 100 times. The students have been working very hard on blocking, choreography and singing. The show looks and sounds great.”
