FAQs – Regardless of Major

The best place to find out how a course taken at one Louisiana state college or university will transfer to another Louisiana state college is by using the “Comparison of Two Campuses” course search on the Louisiana Transfer Degree Guarantee website.

Questions about whether a course accepted as an elective can be used to satisfy a specific course requirement can only be answered by the student’s major department.  A criminal justice major, for example, would address his/her elective transfer credits with that specific department.

If you are a returning student, you can log on to your myNSU, go to the NSUConnect icon, access your Academic Transcript, and then scroll all the way down. Your institutional, transfer, and overall GPA’s will be located under “Transcript Totals (undergraduate) at the bottom. However, if you this is your first semester or if you are trying to figure out what your GPA might be after the completion of your final grades, you can utilize the How to Calculate Your GPA resource to assist you.
It is strongly advised that you make an appointment with your advisor to discuss dropping a class as it can often effect other items such as financial aid eligibility or estimated graduation dates. However, you can use the What a Difference One Grade Can Make resource to better inform you of the repercussions that one grade can make on your GPA.
The best place to get help is the Financial Aid Office directly; however, you can use the Financial Aid Quick Reference Guide for myNSU to assist you in finding your personalized financial aid information on your myNSU account.
While phone and office visits are fine, some students may not have this option. You can also utilize their departmental email address nsufinaid@nsula.edu in order to obtain information. They normally respond within 24-48 hours from the time the email was received.
