Program Outcomes

An educational program is deemed effective in fulfilling its mission by the achievement of program outcomes. Program outcomes are determined by Northwestern State University of Louisiana’s College of Nursing along with the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, and various accrediting agencies. The expected levels of program achievement include the following key elements: program completion rates, student licensure/certification rates, employment rates, faculty outcomes, and student satisfaction. Key element data are systematically collected and analyzed to foster continuous evaluation and quality improvement of nursing programs.

Historically, Northwestern State University of Louisiana’s College of Nursing’s programs have been very successful in awarding over 12,000 undergraduate nursing degrees and 1,800 graduate nursing degrees, adding thousands of registered nurses, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, nurse educators, and nurse leaders to the Louisiana healthcare workforce. Program outcomes demonstrate the College of Nursing’s achievement of our mission to assist individuals in attaining their goal to become responsible and contributing members of an interprofessional global community that improves the health of our region, state, and nation.
