    The BSRS program offers students an opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become radiologic technologists. Radiologic Sciences is a healthcare profession combining state-of-the-art technology and imaging techniques with human compassion to provide a rewarding career. Through the use of ionizing radiation, radiologic technologists produce diagnostic images used for the diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury. As professionals, radiographers are required to observe the ethical and professional standards expected of all persons involved in caring for patients in health care settings.

    The Ultrasound concentration within the Bachelor of Science program provides students with the skills necessary to operate sonographic equipment and control images through various enhancements. Students seeking to enroll in the Ultrasound Concentration within the Bachelor of Sciences in Radiologic Sciences program must met the eligibility requirements for the BSRS program. Students must complete the first three semesters of the curriculum and then apply for clinical admission. Clinicals start each spring and applications are due by August 31 of the previous year. Admission into the Ultrasound Concentration is very limited, only 5-8 students are selected each year depending on clinical site availability.

    Didactic courses will be housed in Natchitoches. Clinical courses will be available in Natchitoches, Shreveport and Alexandria.

    The RT to BSRS program provides an individualized plan of education to assist technologists, who are ARRT registered in Radiography, in gaining the skills necessary to meet their future career goals. This program was designed for technologists who are interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences degree. The technologist may earn credit without enrollment in 45 hours of radiologic sciences courses. Northwestern State University offers an individualized plan for learning to assist radiologic technologists registered in radiography who are pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in radiologic science. The length of the program will be based on the amount of prior academic coursework completed. Our mission is to provide students with the education to promote success, professionalism, and opportunity in the radiologic sciences.

    The NSU School of Allied Health offers the Bachelor of Applied Science in Allied Health (BASAH) degree completion program to help healthcare professionals obtain a bachelor’s degree. The program is offered entirely online, making it accessible and convenient, allowing working healthcare professionals to continue their current positions while completing degree requirements. The length of the program is based on the amount of prior academic coursework completed.

    The Bachelor of Applied Science degree allows associate degree allied health professionals to transfer general education and up to 30 hours of clinical coursework credits to meet the program’s requirements. The BASAH program is designed to prepare graduates to work in multiple clinical settings or qualify for other areas of career advancement. The BASAH program has two concentrations available: Health Science & Technology and Health Science Leadership & Management.

    Allied health is restricted to students who already have a healthcare certification and an associate degree. This major is not for entering freshmen.

The program allows radiologic sciences professionals to earn a graduate degree in their discipline and to develop skills that will assist with career advancement within radiologic sciences education and administration.

    Articulations

    Northwestern State University and the following Universities have agreed to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding for articulations with associate degree programs. The articulations will allow students to complete their Associate Degree and transfer their credit hours to Northwestern State University in partial fulfillment of degree requirements for the Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Allied Health.
